Opioid Use Disorder Educational Presentation

West Chester University is presenting an educational session for all university community members on the risk factors for opioid use disorder as well as recovery resources.  The goal of the session is to provide students, faculty, staff, parents, and community members with practical skills for identifying risk factors and training in the administration of a Naloxone/Narcan kit.  At the conclusion of the session, attendees will be invited to take educational materials, drug lockboxes, drug disposal kits, and Narcan kits with them. 

What: Opioid Use Disorder Educational Session

Topics:

  1. How to identify commonly prescribed drugs that are used illicitly
  2. Specific risk factors that are faced by new students, athletes, pre-professional, and sorority and fraternity life students
  3. The influence of the COVID-19 Pandemic on those who suffer from opioid use disorder and on friends and family
  4. Identification of opioids and the effect they have on the brain/body.
  5. What to do in the case of coming upon a person who has overdosed from opioid use disorder
  6. Recovery and treatment resources at West Chester University of Pennsylvania and West Chester community
  7. How to effectively use a Naloxone/Narcan kit

Where: Sykes Theatre (Sykes Building 005)

When:  October 6, 7:00 PM – 9 PM

Audience: West Chester University students, faculty, staff, parents, and West Chester community members

Take Home Educational Materials: Opioid use disorder educational materials, drug disposal kits, drug storage lockboxes for all attendees as supplies last
