About AMoM
A Moment of Magic is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that harnesses the power of play to spark joy, foster connection, reduce isolation and support the mental health and emotional healing for medically vulnerable children and their families.
The West Chester University chapter is a compassionate community of student volunteers who believe in the healing power of joy, imagination, and connection. Through visits, workshops, and special events, they help ensure that every child we serve feels seen, celebrated, and supported.
For children facing serious illness, clinical care is only part of the story. What they also need is a way to feel like kids again—to laugh, imagine, and feel in control of their world, even for a moment. That's where we come in.
It’s no surprise that chronic illness and long hospital stays can impact a child’s emotional development, sense of identity, and overall well-being. Yet many hospitals are stretched thin, with limited psychosocial support—meaning the emotional and social care that helps children cope with the challenges of illness.
Our programs fill that gap by delivering child-led, joy-centered experiences that strengthen mental health, build resilience, and create meaningful moments of connection.
