Our Project's Mission

We believe everyone deserves recognition, and we would like to help highlight organizations and members of the West Chester University (WCU) community, for their service. Awards and certificates will be given to select individuals, nominated by fellow WCU community members. Help us give back and recognize individuals and organizations, deserving of such appreciation.

Economics and Finance Society Awards

The following awards are meant to provide recognition and promote future accomplishment and service.

There are numerous unique awards, and there is no limit to the number of nominations that can be submitted, as well as no limit to the number of awards a nominee can be nominated for.

All awards can be seen below.

A Formal Award Ceremony will be held towards the end of the spring semester where the awards will be given out.

Each certificate is meant to serve as a reminder that an individual's hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed.

Any member of the West Chester University community - faculty, staff, students - can be nominated for a certificate. The certificates are meant to highlight individuals only, not organizations.

*All awards and certificates require the nomination of the individual/organization by a member of the West Chester University community.*

Organization Awards

*Active membership is qualified as the number of unique students - including your executive team - that are attending the majority of your meetings each semester.*

The Rising Student Organization Award

Additional Requirements:

-The organization may be no more than two academic years - or four academic semesters - old.

Award Description:

-The Rising Student Organization Award, is bestowed upon an organization that is relatively new to West Chester University. This organization has shown tremendous growth, service, and activity during the short time it has been here. The organization that this is awarded to, is one to look for in the future, as we are certain it will continue to accomplish great things and will become a staple of West Chester University organizations.

The Legacy Student Organization Award

Additional Requirements:

-The organization may be no less than seven academic years - or fourteen academic semesters - old.

Award Description:

-The Legacy Student Organization Award, is bestowed upon an organization that has been a part of the West Chester University community for quite some time. This organization has brought about a lasting positive impact during its time here. The organization that this is awarded to, is a staple of West Chester University organizations, and we are certain that it will continue its tremendous service and activity for years to come.

The Outstanding Small Organization Award

Additional Requirements:

-Active membership - not Ramconnect membership - must be no more than 15 members.

Award Description:

-The Outstanding Small Organization Award, is awarded to a relatively small organization that has made a great impact on the West Chester University community. This organization utilizes resourcefulness, dedication, and the high level of creativity found within its membership. The organization that this is bestowed upon, is an integral part of West Chester University, and we believe it will continue onward with its achievement.

The Outstanding Large Organization Award

Additional Requirements:

-Active membership - not Ramconnect membership - must be more than 15 members.

Award Description:

-The Outstanding Large Organization Award, is awarded to a sizable organization that has made a great impact on the West Chester University community. This organization has both grown in its membership and activity at West Chester University. The organization that this is bestowed upon is an ever-growing part of our community, and we believe it will continue to have a positive impact on those it interacts with.

The Fastest Growing Organization Award

Additional Requirements:

-A submission via the nomination survey, that outlines the organization's active membership, participation, collaboration, and activity growth over this academic year.

Award Description:

-The Fastest Growing Organization Award, is awarded to an organization that is growing in active membership, membership participation, collaborations, and activities held. This organization has, on average, grown the fastest in several categories, over the past academic year. We would like to highlight this organization's achievements, as they have strived to grow their organization through growing their contributions to the West Chester University community.

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award

Additional Requirements:

-A submission via the nomination survey, that outlines specific events, practices, and culture of the organization.

Award Description:

-The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award, is bestowed upon an organization that focuses on the inclusivity and accommodations of its membership, as well as all those it interacts with. The award is given to an organization that all others should look to emulate, in this sense. This award is especially important, because each organization's culture and level of inclusion, will ultimately shape the perception of each individual student, on whether they feel like they fit into the West Chester University community.

Student and Faculty Awards

A total of 13 faculty and student awards will be given each year to students who are nominated and selected by the awards committee. Questions should be directed to club-efs@wcupa.edu

The Exceptional Faculty Advisor Award

Additional Requirements:

-Must be an active faculty member of West Chester University, as well as an advisor for an organization at the university.

Award Description:

-The Exceptional Faculty Advisor Award, is awarded to a faculty advisor that has gone above and beyond their role. This advisor has set a standard of what it means to be an exceptional and otherwise outstanding part of their organization's team. They have put in the time, effort, and dedication necessary to ensure the organization that they are a part of has all the resources and guidance needed to succeed. We are certain that this faculty member will continue their positive contributions. This award is given to a max of three faculty advisors each year.

The Exceptional Student Leader Award

Additional Requirements:

-Must be a student at West Chester University, and an active member of an organization at the university.

Award Description:

-The Exceptional Student Leader Award, is awarded to a student leader that is truly dedicated to the service of their community. This individual has gone far above what is ever expected of a student of this institution, and we believe they deserve such recognition. They have served their community through the organizations they have been a part of, and the people they have aided throughout West Chester University. We fervently believe they will continue their path of excellence well beyond this institution.

The Distinguished Faculty Member Award

Additional Requirements:

-Must be an active faculty member of West Chester University.

Award Description:

-The Distinguished Faculty Member Award, is bestowed upon a member of the West Chester University faculty that has not only touched the minds of their students, by their hearts as well. This individual has turned their classes from an academic requirement, into a once in a lifetime experience. They have more than shown their dedication to their students and the pursuit of education. We believe they are truly an outstanding faculty member that has and will positively impact the lives of their students and colleagues for years to come. This award is given to a max of three faculty members each year.

Evan R. Brooks Honorary Award

Additional Requirements:

-Student must be an active member of the WCU Community, in and out of the classroom. They take pride in the extracurriculars they are apart of, and strive to better the WCU Campus Community.

Award Description:

-Named for the President of Economics and Finance Society who started the Annual EFS Awards, Evan R. Brooks was devoutly dedicated to his work within the classroom and within the campus community. A dedicated member and executive of over 15 organization – including to name a few: E.F.S, Astronomy Club, Investment Group, Model UN, The Quad, and Countless others – Mr. Brooks would go out of his way to ensure the success of each organization. The Evan R. Brooks Honorary award will be given to one student each year, who truly embodies the traits and values of Mr. Brooks, Works tirelessly to ensure the success of every organization they are part of, as well as is dedicated to the betterment of the campus community and fair treatment of everyone. This award is given one student each year.

Impact Awards for Organizations or Individuals

The On-Campus Impact Award

Additional Requirements:

-The organization or individual must have made some positive impact on the West Chester University campus. This could have been carried out in a multitude of ways, including an event.

Award Description:

-The On-Campus Impact Award, is awarded to an organization or individual that has executed an event or project that has positively impacted the West Chester University community, within the boundaries of the campus. This award represents the positive possibilities of making an impact, we are all capable of. We believe that this action will serve to inspire more in the future, and that it should be recognized for its service to the campus community.

The Off-Campus Impact Award

Additional Requirements:

-The organization or individual must have made some positive impact off the West Chester University campus, and in the surrounding community. This could have been carried out in a multitude of ways, including an event.

Award Description:

-The Off-Campus Impact Award, is awarded to an organization or individual that has accomplished an event or project that has positively impacted the West Chester University community, outside the boundaries of the campus. This award serves as a representation of the positive impact we can all make. We believe that the action taken will influence more positive actions to be taken in the future and that it deserves recognition for its service to the community outside of campus.

FAQ's

Is there a limit to the number of nominations you can submit?

No. You can nominate as many individuals and organizations as you want.

Is there a limit to the number of awards one organization or individual can be nominated for?

No. A single individual or organization can be nominated for as many awards as wanted.

Is the Nomination and Decision Process Fair?

Yes. To ensure fairness, transparency, and unbiased selections within the nominating process; the group of individuals responsible for the review and selection of awards, will be unable to be nominated or nominate others for any of the awards.

What are these Awards? Are these from a department or office on campus?

No. This program is run solely through the Economics & Finance Society of West Chester University and is not affiliated with any other award programs. These awards are not affiliated with any department or office at the university. This is purely a service project, focused on recognition, run only by the Economics & Finance Society.
