Member Benefits

Students recognized as an "active member" may receive extra credit in ASL classes taken at WCU. Learn American Sign Language and be able to communicate with a wider variety of people!

Deaf Events

Each year, we host various people from the Deaf Community to WCU's campus! This past year, we had Peter Cook, a Deaf Comedian and storyteller, as well as Meg Day, a Deaf Poet come to campus! This year Deaf Artist, Nancy Rourke will be coming to host a lecture and painting class!

Fundraisers

Throughout the year, ASL Club hosts many different fundraisers such as: local restaurant dine-and-donates, club T-shirt sales, club button sales, and much more!

The money from each fundraiser it put towards hosting the different Deaf events and to host our annual Senior Send-off! The Senior Send-off recognizes our graduating seniors from the Deaf Studies Minor each Spring.

Active Member Requirements

  1. Attend at least 4 out of 7 meetings per semester.
  2. Pay dues ($5 per semester).
  3. Participate in at least 3 fundraisers per semester.
