Heart Safe Campus Program

During the 2025 NCEMSF Conference, West Chester University became a Heart Safe Campus. This means that WCU has a rapid response to Cardiac Arrests on campus. We achieve this through rapid response by trained providers in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation(CPR) and Automated External Defibrillators (AED), fast access to the 46 Public Access AEDs that can be found on both the North and South Campus, Early Access to advanced care that Good Fellowship Ambulance Club provides, Participating in and Advocation for cardiac arrest training, and awareness and engagement in activities that promote cardiovascular health.

AED's on Campus

West Chester University is fortunate enough to have 46 Public-Access Automated External Defibrillators on campus. This means that when buildings are occupied, they are available for anyone to use in the event of a cardiac emergency. Most of these AED's are found in the lobby's of these buildings or near areas where large groups of people gather, like lecture halls. Look for the white boxes mounted to the walls.
